Stromness repaving update

The project to repave the historic core of Stromness with traditional flagstone is progressing well, with current slab replacement in John Street – the final section of repaving – due to be completed in early December.

Repaving the area outside the Commercial Hotel, in Victoria Street, is due to start in April, once the scaffolding related to the restoration of the building is removed.

Flagstones around the Pierhead will be laid at a later date as part of the Pierhead Regeneration Project.

Meantime, work to remove yellow lines outlining parking bays in the town’s conservation area and replace them with signage and small white markings should begin in the week commencing November 21, and will continue for six to eight weeks, weather dependent.
