Voting to close soon for local dance practitioner award nomination
A local dance artist, educator and practitioner has been nominated for a prestigious award and the voting closes in just a few days.
Stephanie Hellewell Baird who runs Move Orkney has been nominated for her dedication to “raising the value of dance in Orkney.”
Stephanie’s practice often focus on supporting inclusive practice, community dance practice and dance creative process. She ran the inclusive dance project — Movements Of Orkney in partnership with OIC for school children this summer.
She has run dance, music and art therapy for children with disabilities and is in the process of setting up programs such as Dance for Parkinson UK.
Stephanie has also been invited to share her industry expertise at the Orkney Careers Fair this Thursday.
She said her aim has always been: “to leave a deep rooted legacy of dance in the community.”
One Dance UK’s People choice award is for those who have made a “a significant contribution to the dance industry throughout the last year” and is decided by a public vote.
